Marat Akhmetov: “As a minister I will be grateful to Rosselkhoznadzor for tighter control” 27 January 2012,15:38

Rosselkhoznadzor authority’s Tatarstan branch has summed up the 2011 performance.

(Kazan, January 27, Tatar-inform, Irina Ignatieva). The Federal Service of Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight (Rosselkhoznadzor) Tatarstan branch and Tatar Interregional Veterinary Laboratory have at a videoconference summed up the 2011 performance and set tasks for the future. An attendee at the end-of-year meeting was Tatarstan agriculture minister Marat Akhmetov, who appreciated the oversight body’s work.

The 2011 report, delivered by the authority’s regional branch head Nurislam Khabipov, contained alarming figures and facts. Agribusiness entities often act negligently, storing agricultural crop grain in warehouses with leaking roofs. There are no special premises for storing mineral fertilisers either.

“Businesses are being negligent. How could you allow the mineral fertilisers, purchased with budget funds, be buried in snow? The businesses may never again be provided mineral fertilisers at a reduced cost,” Marat Akhmetov flared.

Agriculture Ministry chief drew the agriculture industry’s attention to that 2012 had been declared a year of efficiency and economy. Some managers, however, continue to work in an old-fashioned manner.

The agriculture minister asked the Rosselkhoznadzor officers to tighten measures in this area. “There should be no irresponsibility in agriculture,” he said.

Assessing the oversight body’s performance in 2011, he praised it. “A considerable proactiveness has been seen in the authority’s work. The specialists are carrying out a lot. We have become one big family,” the minister said, implying that Rosselkhoznadzor’s activity allowed saving funds and resources allocated for agriculture development.

M.Akhmetov set tasks for the future. He advised making a little more effort, to prevent the African swine fever in Tatarstan, and to carefully monitor the supplies and movement of livestock and livestock products from Tatarstan into neighbouring regions.

“As a minister I will be nothing but grateful for Rosselkhoznadzor tightening control. We have joined the WTO and must meet the high requirements,” he concluded.
