Almost all Russian schools ready for new school year

Russia will open 123 new schools this September, according to the Education and Science Ministry.
(Kazan, September 1, Tatar-Inform). Almost all Russian schools are ready for the new school year, the Federal Consumer Rights and Human Well Being Service said on Tuesday.A total of 51,445 schools were pronounced ready, and 41 schools in 14 regions failed to prepare on time.
“These schools have not finished repairs of water mains, sewage, canteens and plumbing,” the service said.
In total, Russia will open 123 new schools this September, a source at the Education and Science Ministry told Itar-Tass.
The country has 51,543 schools at present, including 33,007 in the countryside.
The number of schools reduced by 10% or over 5,000 in the past three years due to the dip in the birth rate, deputy head of the Federal Consumer Rights and Human Well Being Service Irina Bragina said. The largest number of schools, 100, closed in the Nizhny Novgorod region, in the Ryazan region (80), the Kursk region (58), the Orenburg region (36) and the Altai territory (46).
The average correlation between students and computers is 19 to one. The indicator is the best, six to one, in the Perm territory; Chukotka (seven to one), Kaliningrad and Kaluga regions (eight to one), Karelia, Moscow and Chuvashia (nine to one), Kalmykia, Yakutia, Belgorod, Leningrad and Sverdlovsk regions (ten to one).
A total of 832,312 children will go to kindergartens for the first time ever. Kindergartens will have 18% of children aged from twelve to 36 months, 41% aged from three to five years, and another 41% aged from five to seven.
All the city schools and kindergartens have been examined for explosives ahead of September 1.
