Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev will chair the meeting of Russia’s State Council.

(Kazan, August 31, Tatar-Inform). A joint meeting of Russia’s State Council and the Commission on modernization and technological development of the economy will discuss the system of professional education in the country. Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev will chair the meeting on Tuesday, Itar-Tass reports.

“The modernized economy requires advanced modernization of professional education,” the State Council’s working group said. “The system of professional education should get a fresh impetus to raise the role of the regions and business community in the educational process.”

“The measures to improve the professional education system include analysis of human resources and changes in the economy’s sectors,” a source in the working group said. “The basic priorities are medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, space technologies and telecommunications, computer technologies and software, nuclear technologies, energy effectiveness and resource-saving technologies.”

“Institutions of professional education and scientific organizations should form up consortiums,” the source said. “It is necessary to finalize the educational standards to answer the requirements of innovative development.”

The present misbalance between students in professional educational institutions and the demand in the market still exists in Russia. On the other hand, the government persistently covers increasing expenses for professional education, while the quality of the education remains at low levels. As for private educational services, the tendency is similar: the raise of costs for the education does not provide better quality of the education itself.
