Kazan metro marks 5th birthday

The underground’s best employees were awarded medals, letters of gratitude from the mayor and certificates of merit.
(Kazan, August 27, Tatar-inform, Irina Ignatieva). The Metroelectrotrans municipal company has today held a solemn meeting, to mark the fifth year since the launch of the Kazan metro, Metroelectrotrans told Tatar-inform.Engine drivers, ticket collectors, cashiers, maintenance operators and people of other professions engaged in transporting passengers in the metro remembered today how it all had begun 5 years before.
In 2005, at most 3-4 thousand passengers were transported a day, and they are now 35-36 thousand. The launch of the Kozia Sloboda station is to allow to transport up to 100 thousand passengers daily. The metro’s personnel is to have much more work to do after the stations under construction have been launched. New carriages for the underground will in the near future be bought in Saint-Petersburg.
The meeting concluded with honouring the best employees who were awarded medals, letters of gratitude from the Kazan mayor and Metroelectrotrans general director, certificates of merit and gifts.
