(Kazan, August 26, Tatar-Inform). South Ossetia is celebrating the second anniversary of independence on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, a car race took off from South Ossetian districts heading for the South Ossetian capital, Tskhinval, where mass festivities were organized.

Adviser for the president of South Ossetia Zhanna Zaseyeva told Itar-Tass that a number of official events would be held in Tskhinval devoted to the second anniversary of South Ossetian independence. A gala meeting attended by representatives of public circles and the South Ossetian leadership and a round table discussion devoted to the results of two years of independence as seen by journalists and experts will be held in Tskhinval, Zaseyeva said.

On Thursday evening a gala concert will be held in Theatre Square in Tskhinval and a song festival will be opened there.
