Saint-Petersburg that hosts the show is not the best place to hold an agribusiness event, they said.

(Kazan, August 23, Tatar-inform, Irina Ignatieva). Tatarstan agribusinessmen have decided not to take part in the Agrorus trade fair. Saint-Petersburg is not a good place to hold an agrarian event, the Tatarstan Association of Farmers and Private Farmsteads chairman Kamiyar Baitemirov has told Tatar-inform.

According to the Tatarstan Agriculture Ministry, two deputy agriculture ministers took part in the Agrorus event last year. This year, no ministry representatives take part in the show. Larger producers and associations in Tatarstan have received invitations but none of them went to Saint-Petersburg.

According to Baitemirov, farmers this year decided not to go to the exhibition out of principle. The agricultural event was in the previous years entitled Farmers of Russia, followed by the title Agrorus. This year, the “farmers of Russia” slogan got lost in name of the congress, making them decide to not take part in the event. Besides, Saint-Petersburg is by far not the best place to hold an event this large, Baitemirov considers.

Enterprises and associations refused to take part in the exhibition following the farmers, as their products are mostly designed for farmers. No representatives from Tatarstan will attend the show in Saint-Petersburg.
