Russia designs air-based military laser system
The airborne laser station is designed to send laser energy to remote targets.
(Kazan, August 19, Tatar-inform). Russia is developing a laser system based on the Il-76 aircraft and designed to counter enemy’s reconnaissance means in various environments, a source in the Russian military industrial complex has told Interfax.
The airborne laser system is designed to send laser energy to remote entities, to counter in the infrared range enemy’s optronic equipment. Laser is able to block enemy’s reconnaissance facilities located in the outer space, air or on the ground.
According to the source, the work to design the airborne laser system based on a modernised version of the Il-76 (A-60) aircraft has been done for quite a while. The system has successfully completed a series of tests.
