The growth in access to broadband internet has over six months increased 5 percent.

(Kazan, August 6, Tatar-inform, Natalia Rybakova). The growth in broadband internet services provision for households in Tatarstan is 55 percent, the average penetration level in Russia being 26.4 percent.

The Tatarstan first deputy minister of informatisation and communication Yuri Bagrov has today told it an extended ministry staff meeting at an IT park in Kazan.

According to him, the growth in access to broadband internet has over six months increased 5 percent. The average lowest rate of broadband internet penetration as compared with other regions in the republic is in the Leninogor region, totalling 27.5 percent. The highest rate of broadband internet penetration is in Naberezhnye Chelny, Kazan and Nizhnekamsk.

The total number of internet users using all the wire and wireless access in Tatarstan is 1.6 million. The total internet traffic consumed by users in local cellular data transmission networks was as of July 1, 2010, over 4 terabytes.
