The bodies of four local residents and one firefighter have been found in the village of Mokhovoye in the Moscow region which was hit by wildfires caused by the record-breaking heat, spokeswoman for the Moscow regional Investigative Committee Yulia Zhukova said on Friday, reports Interfax.

"By 1:30 p.m. the body of a firefighter who was tackling the fire and the bodies of four local residents were found in the village of Mokhovoye," Zhukova told Interfax.

Twelve one-storey buildings and three two-storey brick buildings with wooden fences have burnt down, she said.

"Also, six apartments in a three-storey panel building completely burnt down, as did another six apartments in a two-storey building," Zhukova said.

Meanwhile, a law enforcement source told Interfax that six other Mokhovoye residents were missing.
