Gorbunov KAPO plans to assemble single- or twin-engine small airplanes

The plan is to manufacture single- and twin-engine turboprops seating four.

(Kazan, July 28, Tatar-inform). Representatives from Diamond Aircraft, JSC Leasing Finance and Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade have discussed prospects for international cooperation in the field of small aircraft at the premises of Kapo after Gorbunov in Kazan.

The meeting held within the Austrian firm Diamond Aircraft’s official visit dealt with placing aircraft production facilities on the Kazan producer’s grounds. In particular, manufacturing single- and two-engine turboprop airplanes seating four was considered.

According to a study conducted by JSC Leasing Finance, the aircraft will, considering the possibility to use them for special flights, be in high demand among various public and private entities, as well as on the private market, especially considering the notification system for flight performance Russia will introduce this year.

The Diamond Aircraft owner and general director Christian Dries said he considered the Kapo’s facilities the most acceptable for rolling out production, since the available infrastructure, personnel training and possibility of skills improvement, as well as the AeroComposite company’s plans to roll out production of composite materials on KAPO’s grounds would allow substantially reduce the aircraft’s production costs.

The parties decided to in the near future analyse in detail options of placing production facilities and submit them to the Tatartsan’s authorities and the United Aircraft Corporation for reviewal, KAPO’s press service reports.
