124 meat production facilities in 2010 to be put in operation and reconstructed

(Kazan, March 12, Tatar-inform, Sergei Semerkin). In 2010, Russia will put in operation and reconstruct 124meat production facilities, of a full capacity of 646 thousand tonnes a year. To subsidise interest rates, 4.79 billion roubles will be allocated from the federal budget.The figures were presented by Russian Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik at a plenary session at the Tatarstan’s Tukaev region's administration. Attendees at the session were President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev and deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Minister Marat Akhmetov.
According to Yelena Skrynnik, the measures adopted at the federal and regional levels, aimed to develop the industry, will allow to substantially renew the meat production technological base. By 2012, 62 percent of poultry meat, 40 percent of pork and 36 percent of cattle meat from specialised meat breeds will be manufactured at facilities introduced and reconstructed between 2006 and 2012.
In 2009, Tatarstan put in operation 36 new facilities, manufactured 413 thousand tonnes of meat, or 4 percent of the total Russian production. The growth was 5.5 percent.
