Famous Spanish writer Miguel Delibes died of cancer at the age of 89.

One of Spain’s most acclaimed writers Miguel Delibes has died of cancer at the age of 89.Famed for his gritty depictions of rural life in post civil-war Spain, he started off as a cartoonist at a local newspaper before becoming a reporter, editor and finally a novelist.
In a career that spanned more than 50 years Delibes said there were common themes to his work.
“In my books, in all my books there were four essential elements. Nature, death, sensitivity towards ones loved ones and childhood,” Euronews.net quotes.
In 1993 he was awarded the Spanish-speaking world’s top literary award, the Cervantes Prize, by Spain’s King Juan Carlos.
