“2013 litres of blood by 2013” project launched in Kazan

The Healthiest Higher School competition, measuring students' blood contribution, will be part of the project.

(Kazan, March 12, Tatar-inform). On March 13, the republican blood transfusion station will launch a project called “2013 litres of blood by 2013”, a mass blood donation campaign with the participation of public youth organisations from Tatarstan, authority officials and media.

The public junior movement We said the project would include a competition for The Healthiest Higher School title, based on the total blood contribution. One of the purposes of the project is to set up a voluntary youth donor information bank in Tatarstan.

Since 2005, the youth movement We, public organisation Republic of Tatarstan Creative Youth Academy and the Health Ministry blood transfusion station in Kazan arranged and held 5 large-scale donorship campaigns, participated by over 1,500 students from local universities. The total amount of donated blood was 200 litres.

Public authorities representatives from Russia and Tatarstan, Tatarstan Youth, Sports and Tourism Minister Marat Bariev, first deputy health minister Adel Vafin, heads of charity centres, leaders of junior public organisations, active students from Tatarstan higher schools took part in the events.
