The reason for predictions was the Ford Motors’s experience in using web browsers in the Ford trucks and vans on-board systems, which entailed the conclusion the demand for remote access to the internet “from the wheels” was growing.
An auto-mounted computer can provide for the driver and passengers safe access to working information stored in office computers and servers. Some part of the internet features though could be restricted.
Auto manufacturers have begun to implement the idea of connecting cars to the internet, as it provides another opportunity to successfully compete for the demanding customer.
Based on the Strategy Analytics company’s forecast, in 2016 nearly 90 percent of the cars produced in North America and Europe will to various degrees support wireless access.
