Tatarstan-Britain business council takes place in Kazan

The British party is represented by 13 firms experienced in building and equipping Olympic Games facilities.

(Kazan, March 11, Tatar-inform, Natalya Rybakova). The Tatarstan-Britain council was on March 11 within a UK delegation’s visit to Tatarstan held at the premises of the Mirazh Hotel in Kazan. The delegation is led by Minister Counsellor at the UK Embassy in Russia Caroline Wilson.

The council members were greeted by the Tatarstan deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Artur Fatykhov. “We are grateful for the interest in our republic you have displayed. The government of Tatarstan highlights cooperation with the EU countries, including Great Britain. I suppose the visit of your delegation will contribute to developing the Tatarstan-British relations. I hope this event will give new momentum to the relations between our states,” he said. According to Fatykhov, Tatarstan and Great Britain have long-established ties. “Representatives from the Tatarstan authorities, concerned with cooperation with Great Britain, have been invited to attend the today’s meeting. I expect the meeting to open up new ways for cooperation between Tatar and British businesses,” the deputy minister said.

The UK Embassy in Russia Minister Counsellor Caroline Wilson thanked the government of Tatarstan and Ministry of Industry and Trade for cooperation. “Our delegation includes British companies who are leaders in their fields. Some of them are engaged in the preparations for the Sochi Olympics. This morning, we toured the Universiade 2013 facilities under construction in Kazan. We want to strengthen our business ties and attract more companies to Tatarstan,” she said.

The Tatarstan Commerce and Industry Chamber chairman Shamil Ageyev said 33 thousand companies and 115 private entrepreneurs were involved in small and medium business in Tatarstan. “We are interested in attracting England’s business and borrowing its expertise in operating the infrastructure, managing leisure time, catering and selling souvenirs during the upcoming Universiade in Kazan. Establishing personal contacts is important for us. In Tatarstan, you can do business in various areas,” said Ageyev.

The Tatarstan-Britain council members were presented the Tatarstan’s trade, investment and economic potential.

The UK delegation, led by Caroline Wilson, arrived in Kazan on March 10.

On March 11, the guests toured the World Summer Universiade 2013 sites and visited the Mayor’s Office of Kazan. The British party is represented by 13 companies with an extensive experience in building and equipping Olympic facilities.

Attendees at the Tatarstan-Britain business council are representatives from the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Commerce and Industry Chamber of Tatarstan. The Commerce Chamber arranged direct meetings between the guests and local businessmen.
