A memorandum on cultural cooperation between Tatarstan Mayor’s Office and Cirque du Soleil Rus company has been signed today.

(Kazan, March 11, Tatar-inform, Kristina Ivanova). 44 shows of the world-wide known Canadian circus – Cirque du Soleil will be given in Kazan in August-September of 2010. Memorandum on cultural cooperation between Kazan Mayor’s Office and Cirque du Soleil Rus company has been signed today at Kazan City Hall. It guarantees the circus tours to Tatarstan capital.

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Cirque du Soleil Rus Board of Management Vice-Chairman Craig Cohon signed the document which guarantees organization of Cirque du Soleil tour in the Volga Region territory.

Kazan people will see one of Cirque du Soleil most romantic shows “Corteo” - a theatrical parade of poetical characters and graceful acrobats on August 21-September 26. 44 shows will be given in Tatarstan capital during 4 weeks with almost 3 thousand audience attending each show.

Realization of “Corteo” show project in Kazan cost 11 million US dollars, Craig Cohon informed. One stationary show of Cirque du Soleil costs approximately 40 million dollars in average.

“Cirque du Soleil is a brand. Kazan joins a group of the best world cities thanks to demonstration of the show here,” Ilsur Metshin believes. If Cirque de Soleil comes to the city, it is a quality status stamp.”
