Silver winner of Beijing Olympics Yelena Migunova will represent Tatarstan at the world championship in Qatar.

(Kazan, March 9, Tatar-inform). Russian national athletics team has left for Doha today where World Indoor Championship in athletics will start on March 12.

45 representatives of Russia – 27 women and 18 men will participate in competitions in Qatar capital, All-Russian Athletics Federation press-service informs. Kazan athlete Yelena Migunova represents Tatarstan at the tournament. Silver winner of Beijing Olympics has been included in the line-up of the national team for participation in 4x400 metres relay race.

The Russian team’s expected results in Doha are 10 prizes - 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. The same number of medals was achieved last year in Valencia.

Russian athletes are on the six top places in the world rankings at present. Leaders among men are: Ivan Ukhov (high jump), Alexei Drozdov (heptathlon), Yury Borzakovsky (800 metres), however, Yury is going to miss the winter world championship. The season’s best results among women belong to Yeugenia Zinurova (800 metres), Yelena Isinbayeva (pole vault), Tatyana Chernova (pentathlon).
