Performer from Kazan wins bronze at international circus art festival

The event ranks the same as the competition in Monte Carlo.

(Kazan, March 8, Tatar-inform). The 3rd international circus festival on March 8 finished in Izhevsk. In terms of prestige, the event ranks the same as the competition in Monte Carlo.

This year’s event was participated by the People’s Artist of Russia Mstislav Zapashny Jr, People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Durov, actors from the Litsedei and Maski Show troupes, best professional performers from China, US, Spain, Cuba, Canada and France. A total of 16 countries were represented. The festival’s jury included the Russian state-run Rosgostsirk general director, Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard director Maxim Nikulin, representatives from Monte Carlo, France, China and others.

The coach at the Kazan Circus School, amateur circus performer Marat Bikmaev, from the school’s first class, had been invited to the festival with his act called An Aerialist on Chains. The act had been staged by a choreographer at the Kazan Circus School Svetlana Sharapova.

In a fierce competition with the world’s best performers, Marat Bikmaev won the bronze, sharing it with actors from the US and Canada. This happens for the first time in the history of world circus competitions, told Tatar-inform the school’s artistic director, Distinguished Art Worker of Tatarstan Ildar Igumnov.
