Russian-American talks on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) will be resumed in Geneva on March 9.

(Kazan, March 4, Tatar-inform). Russian-American talks on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) will be resumed in Geneva on March 9, John Bayerly, U.S. Ambassador to Russia, said in an interview with Itar-Tass on March 4.

According to his information, a pause has been announced in the Russian-American talks. They will be resumed in Geneva on March 9. He pointed out that they expected the negotiators to finish their work soon, and the treaty would be ready for signing. Bayerly did not mention the exact date of the signing ceremony, but assured that it would take place in the near future.

According to Bayerly, START is a difficult treaty, it deals with difficult problems. It is actually without precedent that the work was done in less than a year. “Such things are not done overnight,” he said.
