Tatarstan could introduce Commissioner for Children's Rights office

The State Council's Committee for Law and Order has today examined the related draft law.

(Kazan, March 4, Tatar-inform, Alia Sabirova). Tatarstan could introduce a new post, Commissioner for Chidren's Rights. The related draft law was today examined by the State Council Committee for Law and Order.

The committee’s chairman Shakir Yagudin had introduced the draft law called On Making Amendments to the Law of Tatarstan On Commissioner for Human Rights in Tatarstan, as well as in article 2.3 of the Tatarstan Misdemeanour Code.

The document is proposed to stipulate that the Commissioner for Children's Rights is a deputy to a civil servant in Tatarstan, is a deputy to the Tatarstan Commissioner for Human Rights. The Commissioner for Children's Rights is elected by the State Council of Tatarstan based on the President’s nomination, for 5 years. The draft law also proposes disclosing the servant’s authority, which includes participation in the development of the Tatarstan’s regulations related to protecting the children’s legal rights and interests; annual participation in the preparation of the Commissioner’s report in the part of the children’s legal rights and interests observance.

Besides, the draft law makes amendments to article 2.3 of the Tatarstan Code of Misdemeanour, stipulating that obstruction to the Commissioner for Children's Right’s work in Tatarstan entails imposition of a fine.

The said draft law was supported by the MPs and advised to be passed in the first reading.
