Naomi Campbell wanted by police after “hitting chauffeur in the face”.

(Kazan, March 3, Tatar-inform). Naomi Campbell's famous temper appeared to have landed her in trouble in New York. The British supermodel was wanted for questioning by police after allegedly hitting her chauffeur in the face in Manhattan, according to a report by The Times.

The driver, who had been hired for the day, pulled his black Cadillac Escalade over to the curb at 58th Street and Second Avenue to speak to a traffic officer when the model apparently became enraged. Police said that Campbell, 39, slapped and punched the 27-year-old driver, leaving him with a bruised cheek. Campbell, who was sitting in the back seat, then jumped out of the car and was last seen running away from the scene. The driver called police.

Police said that they were considering charging the model. The driver and Campbell's personal assistant were reported to be talking to investigators.

Campbell would voluntarily co-operate with police, said her spokesman, Jeff Raymond.

The supermodel’s legendary temper tantrums have triggered a series of lawsuits and criminal charges by staff who claim that they were abused. She pleaded guilty in June 2008 to cursing, kicking and spitting at two police officers at Heathrow in a rage over a piece of missing luggage. In 2007 she did a week of community service scrubbing lavatories and sweeping floors at a dustbin van depot in Manhattan after pleading guilty to hurling a mobile phone at a maid who lost a pair of her jeans she planned to wear on the Oprah Winfrey show. In 2000 Campbell also pleaded guilty to assault in Toronto for beating an assistant who said that the model hit her in the head with a mobile phone.
