British fashion icon Alexander McQueen has committed suicide.

(Kazan, February 12, Tatar-inform). Tributes have been pouring in for Alexander McQueen, the British designer whose apparent suicide has sent shockwaves through the fashion world.

Police are not treating the 40-year-old’s death as suspicious. His body was found at his home in London just over a week after his mother died.

“McQueen was probably one of those talents that comes along maybe once every 20, 30 years who really did change the way people looked at particularly women’s wear,” Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue is quoted as saying by Euronews.net.

Born in a working class area of London, the youngest of six children, Alexander McQueen’s creative genius made him a global superstar. Said to be devastated by the loss of his mother, reports that the four-times British designer of the year hanged himself have not been confirmed.
