Russia President proposes candidacy of Rustam Minnikhanov.

(Kazan, January 27, Tatar-inform). Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has proposed candidacy of Rustam Minnikhanov for vesting with authority of President of Tatarstan, the state head’s press-service informs.

“United Russia” political party nominated three candidacies for the post of the Republic of Tatarstan President in December 2009: the republican Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan State Council Chairman Farid Moukhametshin, and current President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev.

On January 22, M.Shaimiev met with Dmitry Medvedev and made a request not to consider the issue of prolonging his presidential term, which expires on March 25.
