US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has visited Kazan Kremlin today.

(Kazan, October 14, Tatar-inform, Nina Narykova). US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has visited Kazan Kremlin today. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev accompanied her during the tour around the museum-reserve’s historical-architectural complex.

Other members of the United States official delegation are the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia John Beyrle, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon, and special assistant to the US President for National Security Council, director of Russian and Eurasian affairs at the United State National Security Council Michael McFaul.

By tradition, a tour around Kremlin began from visiting Kul Sharif Mosque. Its imam (religious head), Tatarstan Muslim Religious Board Deputy Chairman Ramil Yunusov welcomed Hillary Clinton at the entrance. The state secretary witnessed a marriage ceremony (nikah) which took place in the mosque at that time. Tatarstan President and Hillary Clinton presented the newly married couple with flowers and congratulated them on the wedding.

After having visited the mosque, the distinguished guests headed to the Annunciation Cathedral. Archbishop of Kazan ands Tatarstan Anastasy welcomed Mintimer Shaimiev and Hillary Clinton. The US secretary of state lighted a candle near the Icon of Kazan Virgin, which was delivered from the Holy Cross Exaltation Church to the cathedral on this occasion.

Besides, the newest products of KAMAZ plant were presented to Hillary Clinton. A small exposition of trucks was arranged on the territory of the Kremlin. The state secretary was shown trucks with engines developed by KAMAZ and American firm Cummins. It turned out Mrs Clinton have heard about Tatarstan’s KAMAZ and knows that it is one of the largest truck manufacturers in the world.
