German policemen visit Russian Islamic University

(Kazan, January 22, Tatar-inform). A delegation of Germany’s Minister of Internal affairs visited Russian Islamic University. The visit was held as a apart of the German delegation’s trip to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan in January 19-22.The delegation included the chief of the Department for European and International Development of German Ministry of Internal Affairs, Dr Markus Kerber, chief of the Department of Culture at the Embassy of Germany in Russia, Dr Gido Hildner, official representative of Germany’s Federal police in the Russian Federation, Mirko Heinke and other officials, the press-service of the university informs.
The main purpose of the visit was learning experience of establishing Russian Islamic University as the leading Islamic educational institution in Russia. An educational institution for Muslims will open in German in the future, Dr Markus Kerber said.
“RIU is one of leading professional Islamic higher education institutions of the Russian Federation. That’s why we decided to come here. In the future we would like to use such solid experience for international development of Muslim community in Germany. 82 million people live in Germany at present – 3-3.5 million of them are Muslims from 20 countries of the world. “We must create conditions for their development and learning Islam in our country,” Mr Kerber said.
RIU authorities told the guests about the university’s work, public and student life, history and achievements. Issues of Muslim education in Russia and Europe were also discussed.
