Days of the Tatarstan culture take place in Baku
A large delegation from Kazan headed by Zilya Valeyeva arrived in Baku on October 3.
(Baku, October 4, Tatar-inform, Lyaisan Abdullina). On October 4 Days of the Tatarstan culture commenced in the capital of Azerbaijan.
The day before a large delegation from Kazan arrived in Baku. It includes the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture Zilya Valeyeva, the head of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Tatarstan President Timur Akulov, a People’s poet, a member of the Tatarstan State Council Robert Minnullin, cultural and art workers.
Before the opening ceremony of the events held in the frameworks of the Days of the Tatarstan culture Zilya Valeyev laid flowers on the tomb of Geidar Aliyev on the Honourable Burial Alley.
After taking part in the opening of the Baku branch of the Moscow State University the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, a People’s writer Elchin Efendiyev and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Garayev in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic.
In the run of the meeting the sides underlined the similarity of the interests aimed at the development of the cooperation between two countries. Zilya Valeyeva cited the words of the Tatarstan President that “we are united by the common roots and centuries-long friendship, but the resources of these relations are not implemented yet”.
Elchin Efendiyev supported the Tatarstan President and noted that the cultural relations of Tatar and Azeri nations had always been very strong. As an example he told of the respect and popularity which the renowned Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai had among the representatives of the Azeri nation.
Speaking of Gabdulla Tukai Zilya Valeyeva shared the plans of celebration of the poet’s 125th birthday anniversary. The idea of the Tatarstan Minister of Culture to publish a selection of the poet’s works in the Turkic languages raised a great interest of the other side. The plans of holding the Days of the Azerbaijan culture in Kazan next spring were also discussed in the meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers.
In the official opening ceremony Zilya Valeyeva noted that the cultural exchange was held as part of the intergovernmental agreement of the cooperation.
